Now that we’ve quieted ourselves enough to decide what we truly want from life—learning to remain true to that decision and to protect our environment, spirit, and peace so our growth isn’t jeopardized—it’s time to reveal the next secret ingredient to the life we aspire to live: consistency.

Discovering our purpose is an incredibly rare achievement. For many, that discovery can be a grueling process—if it is ever reached at all. Life is full of distractions that pull us away from our true calling, which is why it takes discipline to pause, reflect, and decide to pursue it. Sometimes our purpose is right in front of us, yet we fail to see it. Discipline helps us stop and say, “Look, there it is.”

Being disciplined enough to pursue your purpose is one thing; maintaining and living within it is another. Anything gained can be lost through inconsistency. At the root of consistency is repetition. It can be challenging at first, and it may cause you to question whether the path you’re on is truly the right one. Many fall short of becoming the better version of themselves right here.

There’s beauty in consistency. It’s an art form—a skill. Consistency has a flow, a rhythm, and a pattern unique only to you. It’s how two people can achieve the same goal in completely different ways. But the beauty of consistency must never be neglected or disrespected. Over time, boredom can creep in, and we may lose sight of our purpose, slipping along our path. If that happens, make it interesting again. Add new goals. Expand your purpose. Challenge yourself in new ways. Whatever you do, don’t deviate from the path.

I love the marriage between discipline and consistency. Consistency is born from discipline, and discipline creates consistency. Where one is lacking, the other is nowhere to be found. How can anything meaningful be accomplished without them?

Hurdles will appear throughout your journey, but I’m confident you’ll prevail. When life becomes challenging, give it your best effort not to make the difficult thing harder. Tap back into your disciplined self and find that place of peace to regroup. Gather your thoughts. Gather your spirit. Then, draw on your consistent self to face and overcome what stands before you. Some challenges will require more time, and that’s okay. It’s your journey—no one else’s. Go at your own pace, fast or slow. The most important thing is that you keep going.

Consistency is perfectly woven into the fabric of discipline for anyone striving to become the best version of themselves. It’s a beautiful art form—one that should be cherished and seen as a gift by those able and willing to keep moving forward. Simply deciding to “carry on” isn’t enough. Before entering the sacred space of walking within your calling, check your discipline. Consistency is non-negotiable for those who desire the supreme version of themselves to manifest in its purest form.
