After you have chosen to become aware of yourself, where you are, and have decided to discipline yourself to take action, then next comes your arrival. It is now time for you to show up to the world and reflect the change that has taken place during your journey. While you will bring along with you past lessons, your arrival isn’t a re-entry. It is you emerging for the first time as the reinvented self. The fascinating thing about this is that this side of you has always been a part of you; it is you, yet it has laid dormant inside of you. We’ve referred to this side of you as the Better You in previous posts on The Curated Chapter. For many, this point is never reached, maintained, or grown because it is often viewed as a whole, whereas we’ve discussed how burdensome this can be and how it can be discouraging by appearing overwhelming when not broken down into the proper steps of Reflection, Refinement, and then Resonance. As a refresher, reaching the point of Resonance, first, requires self-awareness, achieved through Reflection and Refinement, achieved through discipline.

While reaching the point of Resonance is about your arrival into the world as the self aware and newly disciplined self, it is not at all about the world around you. Your focus is not about how the world will respond to you; it is not about seeking approval. This phase is about what you put forth into the world. The atmosphere around you will change, this is an expectation, not the focus. Resonance is truly about tapping into what this life thing is really about. How can you create change? How can you make things better? You’ve already decided to change one of the more difficult things in life and that is to change yourself. You’ve now reached the place of changing the things around you. It doesn’t have to be big. Start somewhere small. A simple smile towards another, offering assurance that things will get better, could be the change.

Resonance is a state of being. It is about your presence. The truth can’t be forced; it simply is reality. You must be who you are and what you are. The truth can be suppressed by lies and carried on by a facade for only a short amount of time. After a while, however, you will begin to unravel. This is why the proper work on yourself must take place. If you truly aren't who you say you are or how you appear to be, it will not last long. The truth will always reveal itself. The truth is an unmovable foundation in which all things are grounded. A lie can’t be built on the truth. The truth can’t be built on a lie.

It may not always be that you’re putting on a front; it could be that you just arrived a little too early. This, too, can cause an unraveling over time if you haven’t put in the proper hours of working on yourself. Sure you may have gone through Reflection, you are aware of what needs to change, but you may have skipped the Refinement phase of putting in the discipline to correct things within yourself. Things will feel off; it won’t feel right. The self may seem unrecognizable, even to you. Likewise, you may skip Reflection and move to Refinement in an attempt to fix something within yourself that was never broken. Take the proper steps.

There’s nothing more fulfilling as walking out into the world as the Better You, the one who is fully his or herself. However, it comes at a cost. It requires you to really examine oneself and place yourself under strict, yet, careful discipline. It is worth it. The cost of not doing so is greater. Not reaching or even attempting to pursue Resonance brings forth bitterness, regret, shame, and disappointment all within oneself. You see, this journey is all about you. It has nothing to do with the opinions or how you are viewed by the outside world.

The arrival reached through Resonance is about reaching a place within yourself. You are the goal. You are the destination. The world will respond to the Better You. Before the world responds to you, you must respond to yourself. What is your spirit asking from you? What is pulling at you? What is aching to come out of you? You must quiet the noise; quiet yourself. Sit and listen. Discipline yourself; REACT! Answer yourself. Show up for yourself. Open the gift that has been given to you which is simply being the fullness of you.
